AARU review

Inikku, I saw AARU, it’s a low risk movie, considering the bad movies ive seen, I technically shouldn’t have problems sitting through this one.

Expectations

After watching the trailers and being told that it’s a gangster flick, my expectations dropped, too many gangster flicks in tamil cinema, its almost like the only backdrop is the gangster.

Hari is the director, so padam bore adikathu nu oru chinna aasai

Result

Padam is just another gangster flick,

Fast screenplay, doesn’t drag at any point, so its entertaining.
Story And Screenplay

(imagining what the director must have thought and done )

a)hero is a rowdy

b)second half is the fight between the villain and his boss

c) need to find a reason for this fight, options are

kaadhal - ada thotti jaya and gilli madri

kasu – hero ku appo 48 karat manasu nu solal mudiyathu,

pannera velai pudikama? - ada, idu old style appa

edavathu pudhusa venumae, enna pannelam (ippo thalai sooringings, in RED style)

eureka - avanoda aala kolai pannara madri kaatalam, avanukku droham pannara madri, appo sentiment a ladies pappangal. (me: ada paavingala, evloav sandai pakka mudiyama ladies ellam vara mattangal, inda oru minute sentiment pakka mottum varuvangala??)

So that’s what happens, Surya fights his boss in the 2nd half because his boss betrays him, in between he falls in love with Trisha.

The story is non existent, but the movie entirely depends on the fast screenplay, which doesn’t disappoint.

Hari and Dharani seem to have worked out a success formula based on fast screenplays, and no stories, they are ideally suited to make the masala movies.

Acting

Surya has acted well, suited the role, annal appo appo nandha madri act pannirukkar,

‘All actresses are models, but not all models are actresses’

I hope for the good of viewers like me, that Trisha understands that and stops acting.
She has the talent for screwing up an already non existent role. idu eppidi irukkuna, oru padathula, chumma oru scene ku vara extra, role-a nalla panama irukkarathu, anda madri irukku Trisha oda acting.

Music

Devi Sri Prasam, if u don’t stop composing music, I will lodge a complaint against you with the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. Wondering why? Where else can I complain against noise pollution?

Whats good bout the movie : fast paced, good screenplay

Whats bad bout the movie : too much cheri language and violence (for some) and TRISHA, ava romba kodumai, I wud rather prefer Chinese torture to watching her act.

Watch the movie if ur in the mood for entertainment and enjoy masala padams.

Sivakasi

Ive decided to change the pattern of my nakkal reviews, so these two reviews are done using different patterns, please bear with me, until I settle into new pattern, there hopefully will be changes to the pattern.

Expectations:

3 hours of entertainment, no logic, just pure entertainment, that I would enjoy. Knowing that Vijay is superstar clone, I expected 3 hrs of entertainment, and I also knew that I had to hang my thinking moolai outside the theatre entrance b4 going in.

Result

I felt cheated. Its like walking into a shop hoping to buy a new car and walking out with a second hand car.

Or like walking into a showroom, and wanting to buy an original product and walking out with a fake one

In vijay padam terms

Walking into a bar hoping to drink IMFL and having to get a high on sarayam, or arrack.

before begenning, i would like to say, i havent considered acting as a special area to write about, because it isnt there, no one has acted, prakash raj came close to that, but he is muthu pandi of ghilli

Storyline

Pretty much non existent, director seems like mocking the audience by asking the question ‘ella padathukum oru kadhai thevaiya? Naan kadhaia illama padatha eduthu oru hit kudupen!!’

Vijay is a welder in madras, falls in love with asin, then to get married to her asin says he has to come with his family. So he goes in search of them, there he finds that his father is dead, elder bro prakash raj, illtreats his mother and sister. Rest is about how he turns things rite. In the climax everyone turns a new leaf.

Music

Only one word to describe the background score and music NOISE POLLUTION

Nakkal Views

1) vijay thinks he is the next superstar, opening credits la the way they introduce illayatalapathi vijay is akin 2 the introduction given to superstar rajini.

2) the entire build up given to vijay is like that given to superstar, especially the dialogues

3) vijay has inherited the dressing sense of Ramarajan, oru pattula, he wears pink trousers, yep pink, aduvum mittai pink, I almost went blind

4) in every movie, till the hero comes it is jjjjjjjaaaaaaaaaaaaavvvvvvvvvvvvuuuuuuuuuu and unbearable, hero vandu screen ll light up, anda madri partha padathin hero Prakash Raj, until he comes the movie is unbeatable and boring

5)cycle gap la ellam vijay punch dialogue sollerar, konjam over, sivakasi character super man madri parandu parandu adikarar

6)super man ku pant mela jetti irukkum, namba Indian super man sivakasi ku that jetti is missing,

7) nayanthara is watch able in the item number

8) did asin act in the movie?? Me thinking now

Conclusion

What is good about the movie : Prakash Raj

Vijay seems a kevalamanae substitute for superstar

In none of superstars movies did the dialogues seem porukkai like and seems konjam indecent, here it seems like that.

I decided to catch maja today, contrarty to advice given.

The story is fairly simple, Vikram pasupathy and manivannan are thieves, who decide to operate a lorry as an alternative career. The lorry breaks down at asin’s village, and they meet vijaykumar and his family. Pasupathy falls for vijay kumars daughter, but learns that he cant get married to her unless Asin gets married. This is due to the virodham between vijay kumar and Asins father Rawiyer (played by murali).

Vikram kovila thalaia kattifies to asin so that his brother can get married to vijaykumars daughter, asins father also accepts the alliance, but the villain is in the form of asins morai mappillai. Avana overcome panni happy ending dhaan kadhai oda climax.

Acting

Well vikram played himself, he looked Vikram, acted like Vikram etc, oru superstar madri, and ppl call him Kamal mould, kodumai. Oru Rajini can act like Rajini is every film but not vikram.

Pasupathy and manivannan have done their roles well. Manivannan ku padathula sarayam adikarathu dhaan velai, thru out the entire movie he has a bottle in his hand. Summa bisleri mineral water madri sarayam kudukarar

Pasupathy’s comic timing and sense is good, it’s a change after his serious villain roles

Murali padam pura muraikarar, morachi morachi pakkarar, nothing else

Villan as usual no role and same case for Asin, dance la kuda no role. Inda padathula enna role irukku nu she choose it I don’t understand, inda azghula substantial role irunda dhaan padam sing pannuvangalam, idu 3,4,5 much peeter.

Puduhmai in Padam

Padam pura ellorum thani adikarangal. In the item number the item girl is clothed,yes u read it right the item girl is clothed.

Apporam vikram wearing eyeliner in songs,

Surya ghajini rangola pattula oru kevalamana costume pottar, adukku pottia vikram is wearing an equally bad constume in one song

Rajini muthu la thundu vecchikttu scene pottar, inda padathula vikram ada scene with handkerchief, idu konjam jasthi dhaan

Inda padathla father sentiment and brother sentiment r there, relif from the age old mother sentiment.

Kadhai/ScreenPlay

The script is 10 years old, seems more apt during the times of nattamai, surya vamsam etc, not today. The story is dated and this is clearly visible

The first half is funny. The second half drags, sentiment ala pottu saavi adikarangal, kodumai, every one is crying,

Gajhini Review

summary

surya has short term memory loss, cant remember anything for more than 15 minutes, and uses a complex method to remember things. this happens because Asin is chased by some dadas, and when they kill her surya gets caught in the crossfire.

My Views

1) opening scene for surya fight, sets tone tat its an action movie, aduku apporam, oru scene la the guy surya attacks namba Anniyan madri mudi ellam moonjiku moonadi vidaran, and camera captures it from anniyan angle, symbolica murudoss is saying that anniyan a thooka porathu inda padam!!

2)ryaz khan finally oru nalla police karana role pannirukkan, ella padathulum avan police a adipan, ingai he is the police karan

3)thotti jaya villian dhaan ingai main villian, angai katthina madri dhaan ingayum, annal enna, konjam english mix oda, plus wears suit and coat

4)asin intro song visualisation straight lift of jenifer lopez video

5)secondly the romantic angle seems like its got the KAKHA KAKHA hangover, ada style, but one of the best since that movie

6)vazakhama namba ooruu padathula the hero is involved in 420 velai, but here its asin

7)surya mental a act pannaratha partha, it seems a mix of aalavandan kamal and pithamagan vikram, mix panni oru pudhu kalaivai

8)ella scene la either surya is too stiff or kai nadangarathu, so i think he has loaded a half bottle of alcohol b4 stepping in front of the camera

9) the romantic interlude of surya not revelaing his identity is actually well shot, its one of the best since kakha kakha,

11)X machi song is scary, nayanthara vara vara she stays only in 5 star hotels wen in madras, and producers foot the bill, free food nu she hogs, tat is visible around her waistline, she seems to give mumtaz competiton for waist line size

12)inda padathula oru BIG difference, ususally items numbers hang in the air, seperate from the main plot, ingai its been integrated into the plot

13)oru question, if surya has memory for only 15 minutes and his mind goes blank after that, how can he retain his driving skills, speech, and know what is a camera?

14)in the romantic interlude suttum vizhi song sets ellam partha it seems straight out of shankers boys (dating song) Salem A Chandrashekar is said to have encountred financial troubles, so left overs ella use pannengala?

15)murugadoss is shanker fan, climax fight la shanker anniyan la use panna panning camera techinque is used,

16) murugoss earlier film was wit vijaykanth, namba capi manna thottu pottu vecchi, thembuaaitu fight panuvar, ingai surya climax la shoulders ellam oru fancy rangela aatiduran, apporam thembu vandu fight panneran, innom capi hangover polai pola irukku murugadoss

17)second half the movie becomes a usual hero being chased by villain affair, kojam boring

20) the background score is good, the songs questionable, the background score and rerecoding were supposed to have taken time, and the effort is visible

Risk rating: Blue, Very watchable film (the first filmive given a blue rating for)

konjam different effort nicely indianisd movie, memento a ulta panna gajnini, adu dhaan matter, but do go and watch its, it actually a nice movie compared to the usual stuff running now, and this movie marks the entry of surya into the big league

First before beginning I would like to seek the blessings of kadavul, the elemental and supernatural. Wondering why I’ve suddenly become so religious today?? Simple, it was gods grace and help, which made me, sit through Ah…Aah, if not for God I would have walked out half way through.

Summary:
SJ Suryah and Nila are in a live in relationship, then Nila decides to start a resturant with her friends brother. Suryah becomes jealous and suspicious, and they decide to part ways. In the end it is left to the memories of these two people to unite them.

1)opening scene Barathiraja style la suryah gives a speech, eppadi for the first time he has given nenaivugal a body and form etc and then about how it’s the first movie which has been names by fans etc,idu konjam over

2) from then there is a song, a la rajni style over build up for suryah, the song is anbe aaruriye, and the line ‘1000kodi perul oruvan, adiyan tamzihan naandan!’ idu over-o-over

Risk Rating : Red Stay Away Bottomline

It’s a horrible film, the adult humour present is little, it’s just unwatchable especially for the story and the execution, stay away, any age, even if u enjoy adult humour. Hindu reviews r biased, cause this movie got a decent review!!

Compared to Ah....Aah

Anniyanku oru Monument Kattalam (its a brilliant movie)
thotti jayaku oru chinna kovil kattalam!!(good movie compared to Ah...Aah)
and i tot both the above movies were bad, i stand corrected, thotti is a good movie and anniyan a master piece compared to Ah...Aah!!

Summary

Simbu (thotti Jaya) is a adi aalu, he loves Gopika who just happend sot be the bosses chinna veedu's daughter, so the boss decides that Thotti Jaya shud be eliminated. sotry is about how simbu kills his boss and escapes wit Gopika

1)opening scene la chimpu (adavadu chinna chimpu)beats the guy who fights wit his boss(in the hotel he is working), and th eboss gives chimpu money for beating tat guy. adukku apporam chimpu realises that aala adikarathu is good business. annal oru 8vaisu paiyan a parthu oru kadamadu madri irukkara aalu baiyapadarathu is koknjam over-o-over.

2)villianl oda peru CHEENA-THANA, chimpu ku Saran padathula act pannanom nu aasai pola iruku, adukkunu inda ice romba over.

3)chimpu graduate pannittan!!, munnadi padathula ellam avan oru student rowdy, inda padathula avan oru proper rowdy.

4)Dhanuku kaila kasu illai pola irukku, chimpu uniform potta madri ella scene la um ora dress la varan

chimpu takes over the mantle of jr tr, putting all speculation to rest. this movie is an indian version of action movies wit no kadhai, like rambo, annal rambo the action is anyday much better than this movie. THOTTI JAYA = JETTI PAIYAN!!

It is my dream to host a proper Nakkal Show and interview cine stars, adu easy, the important things is the questions I will ask them, adu dhaan kastam, so ippovae prepare panni vecchiirukken, wat questions to ask these stars.

A College Story - Review

Summary

Take idhyam (old murali and heera movie), where hero doesnt comfess his love for the heroine till the end, add sethu (insanity angle) and then some imaginatoin for the cure and viola uve got oru kaluriyin kadhai). this is the entire story, but shot in alaipayuthae style, nothing new. Aracha Mavu

2)director differenta edavathu pannanomnu romba think pannar, mandai kanji poi, oru kevalamana ideava use pannirukkar, 'recreation treatment' since arya goes insane during college, he shud be back in that enviromne tot recover his memory and all, and also express his love for sonia agarwal

3) Oru Nal Oru kanavu illa vara kajuraho song too many retakes pola irukku, anda ice cream ellam is visible in sonia agarwals size! (or since she is an associate director she doesnt have to be bothered about weight i presume)

4)for the opening song Yuvan has copied his own april mathatil song, idu sa rajkumar pannara velai, why yuvan?

5) in the begennin of the movie arya thanni adipan, anda bodhai erangalai pola irukku, padam pura thanni pota madri act pannirukkan
